Oak Writting Table

Pull out drawer is actually a writing surface with an ink well at the the right rear.
Work complete.

The same procedure was used on the opposite side.

Once the apron was re-aligned, the glue blocks were set.

I am working on securing the legs and apron on this previously refinished (by another) oak writing table.

Depression Era Table

Repair work completed. Monday starts the color match.
A second look at the replacement squares.

New squares and end strip completes one part of the repair. The old squares were sized to fit the holes from the missing pieces on the rest of the top.

This table was hand made by a craftsman during the depression. Work was not always available so this work was a method of keeping busy. The two tone wood is walnut and white oak. There are some rough pine blocks in the section that requires rebuilding. There is a very thin coat of amber shellac on the surface.
